The nurses smiled at each other, knowing that they had done a good job. And that they had. Almost. There’s always one who breaks the habit. Garnet had spent the last week cheeking her pills so that she could build up her supplies. She had a plan, and nobody was going to get in the way this time. Nobody knew of her plan. The gate separated the general admission patients from the psychiatric patients. While Garnet was being held against her own will and claimed as a threat to herself and potentially to others, her friend was being held for injuries she gained in a recent car crash. She was bandaged and wore a neck brace, but her spirit remained intact. It was that which drew Garnet to her initially. She had wandered by the gate one day and spotted Pez singing loudly to the patients waiting
